FAMILY

Theater isn’t just something we do — it’s something we share. From learning lines to painting sets, quick changes in the wings and teaching each other to apply make-up, no other group activity brings people together in quite the same way. We laugh together, cheer together, and sometimes cry together, and blurring the lines of who’s related by blood and who’s related by stage lights.

One of the best parts of our community theater program? Seeing real families jump in together — parents, kids, siblings, even cousins — all sharing the magic of creating on stage and behind the scenes.

This month, we’re thrilled to spotlight Mandy, Dorothy, Miriam, Colette, Charles, Wesley Calvert, and Leah who have been part of our theater community for nearly five years, joining homeschool theater, summer camps, After School Actors, and our summer community theater productions. They bring energy, laughter, and love for storytelling that lights up every rehearsal and performance — proving that theater is even more fun when the whole family is involved. While we were speaking, it was evident that not only are they active on stage, but they are also active in each other's lives. Sharing favorite memories of each other's success on stage, funny moments they have shared in rehearsals, and even moments of being nervous for one another.

Throughout our talk, favorite memories centered on the time spent with each other and cast mates. Dancing backstage during scenes they weren't involved in, getting special one on one time to talk and connect during commutes to rehearsals, and thinking on your feet when either you or your scene partner forget your lines! They look forward to the day even more family members can join them on stage together

At the end of the day, that’s what makes our theater so special: we don’t just build sets. We build connections. We build community. We build family.
